Nepal Telecom, DIGI Telecom sign pact

KATHMANDU-
Nepal Telecom and DIGI Telecom of Malaysia have agreed to establish direct interconnection between their networks. An agreement to this effect was signed between Bishwa Nath Goyal, Managing Director of Nepal Telecom and Henrick Clausen CEO of DIGI Telecommunication on Monday, in Kuala Lumpur. The agreement between the two operators is aimed to reduce call rates and improving the telecom services, according to a Nepal Telecom press release. The interconnectivity with DIGI Telecom will help large number of Nepal workers in Malaysia. There is an estimated over 500,000 Nepali in the country.



KATHMANDU: Nepalis in Malaysia can now call their families at a lower price. Nepal Telecom (NT) and DIGI Telecommunication signed an agreement that will improve quality of service and lower the call rate.

Both the companies were in connection since last February through Internet Protocol (IP)-based interconnection and they have upgraded their capacity from June 14 by migrating the technology into Improved Data Modem (IDM) from IP based interconnection. NT MD Bishwa Nath Goel and DIGI Telecommunication CEO Nenrik Clausen signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries today in Malaysia.The direct connection will add new possibilities for trade relation between the two countries besides facilitating overall communication,” NT managing director Goel said.

Similarly, Nepali ambassador to Malaysia Dr Rishiraj Adhikari said that Nepalis, residing in Malaysia can make phone call at nominal cost.
